Uncommonly Good Goods

Having learned the art
of scouting and choosing
treasure
 at my grandmother's knee,

I am always seeking
 those charming and unusual pieces
with which I long to surround
 myself .

I can't help it,
I can't stop,
it's a part of who I am.

Some things call out to me
with their stories

in
their tender voices,

and
I reach out to them,

rescuing them from obscurity
for
yet a little while.

They
 may not be
 important,

but

they have a voice . . .
a
story to share.

They are reclaimed
and repurposed
and allowed to speak

that simple history

to my heart.
